Local government climate change professional development program

The City of Melbourne was one of eight cities to take part in C40’s Climate Action Planning Pilot Programme, in building leadership, commitment and capacity to develop Paris-aligned climate action plans across the metropolitan Melbourne region. The program was delivered by ICLEI Oceania and Ironbark Sustainability with support from the City of Melbourne and C40 Cities. Read the final report and case study. Outcomes:

1. Delivering a metropolitan GPC inventory for the Melbourne metro area using the City Inventory Reporting and Information System (CIRIS) tool.

2. Delivering a Capacity Building Workshop Program for 32 councils around metropolitan Melbourne and a peer to peer learning program with follow-up technical assistance. The technical assistance will answer any questions related to GPC inventories or the Capacity Building Workshop Program from any of the 32 councils.

3. Development of a case study useful for other cities and regions and documenting the process followed for the Melbourne program.
